Misleading Knife Ad and More! By: John Uy and Raymond Uriarte F-H

                              Many companies put misleading words/pictures in their advertisements to make people convinced to buy their products. This is a common technique that companies use.

                      This is an intro to Misleading/Tricky advertisements. The picture above Shows a McDonald’s Big Mac Burger. It definitely looks delicious in the advertised picture, but comparing it to the actual burger, it doesn’t live up to it’s reputation. As you can see, there is a significant difference in the size. We estimated it to be about an inch of a difference.

                                               This is such a confusing product description!
                                                                   Now to the meat!

                                For me, this product description in this picture doesn’t make sense. How can it cut through wood, iron, blocks and so many hard things without cutting the users hands? This just does not make sense. The hands are way softer and easier to cut than the ones listed in the picture. The company who made this advertisement really didn’t think of what could support their statement that it is safe for the fingers.Every knife is meant to cut any hard or soft object. There are some advertisements out there that have believable information about the product, but this one right here is just not capable of persuading buyers to purchase it. This ad is not a well supported and planned ad.


                                As possible customers of these products, we should always be careful in picking our products because some of the data they are presenting might be false or dramatized (exaggerated). Do not fall for data that really looks good. I suggest researching for reviews about the product and basing your choice from there. Another way is simply having the skills to identify deceiving statistics. The market is very tricky. That’s why we should always be on the lookout for misleading data like these.
